This is yet another song that I had never heard of until I found it Soodlum's
100 Irish Ballads Volume 1. This song is a special favourite of my little sister, Mary. This Soodlums version is also short with just two verses. The Internet, however, has provided a further two verses which fill out the song to a performable length. It's the simple story of boy meeting girl, boy seducing girl with his wonderful fiddle music
(Do I detect a double entendre?) and the boy turning down the girl's proposal of marriage on the grounds that he was not prepared to commit bigamy.
