Mönch im Nonnenkloster
Last updated: 11.10.23
Mönch im Nonnenkloster is a jolly German folk song about a monk doing very un-monkly things with the inhabitants of a nunnery who were delighted with his "staff" namely a "langer Paternoster". They enjoyed that object to the extent that whatever that was, they wanted to do it again! Totally disrespective no doubt - whilst not exactly bawdy it may be the source of difficult questions from young innocent listeners.
It was one of my favourite Nina Kreft songs whereby I accompanied her on my concertina and loved joining in the kling, klang, Klonimus Dominus chorus. I believe she learned it from a Liederjan recording.
