Joe Wilson wrote Keep Your Feet Still Geordie Hinny set to the tune of Nellie Grey and published in his Tyneside Songs and Drolleries. It tells the tale two gents, Geordie and Bob Johnson, who shared a bed for the night in a lodging house. Poor old Bob has wonderful dreams of his beloved, Mary Clark, which are cruelly interrupted when it gets really interesting by the restless Geordie - hence the earnest entreaty given by the title.
This song came into my repertoire via the Tyneside Maritime Chorus which I joined in 2011. The Chorus sings it with great gusto.
Keep Your Feet Still Geordie Hinny was most probably also performed by that old time musical performer Charles Ernest Catcheside-Warrington who published the song in his Tyneside Songs Volume 1
