"Herr Pastor sien Kauh" is a fine jolly song which is quite well known and we sang it quite a lot in the Idle Fellows. Bernd Gerken used to belt it out and there were always a number of people who could ably join in the choruses. It's a rather strange song of how a whole village benefits from the unexpected and untimely departure of the village parson's cow for the green pastures yonder in the sky. Everybody gets a piece of the unfortunate bovine beast fitting to his trade and situation. The village band get new drum skins, for example.
