Galway Bay

"Galway Bay" was a song I grew up with. It could be heard being sung by anybody and everybody, the great and famous, the poor and humble in pubs, on radio and in music halls. From the Englishman's point of view in the forties and fifties it was a typical Irish song. It was subject to numerous parodies. I particularly like the Clancy Brothers version although I sing it straight myself with a version to be found in Lieder, Songs und Gospels 2.
