Drinking - in Cellar Deep
Last updated: 11.10.23
Actually Drinking is an old German song apparently composed by one Ludwig Fischer. In the late 19th century it acquired English words by Harry Hunter and was arranged by W. Williams. The Punch issue of 3rd October 1891 described it as "a celebrated Bacchanalian ditty". Punch also provided a Latest Up-to-Date Version as it might have been revised by Dr. Mortimer Granville and Mr. James Payn. Dr. Rosteck and I perform both the regular version and also take delight in the clever, funny lyrics of those two Victorian gentleman.
The arrangement was found in Community Book of Fireside Songs.
This song included in We're Only Here For The Beer! - Light by Dr Rosteck and myself
