Personal remarks:
This is a quaint item I purchased sometime in the early 1970's with the object keeping up old customs in a new country, Germany, to which my young family had emigrated from England. As it turned out, it was never used for its intended purpose the reason being that there are simply no firesides in modern German flats and my family was more interested in watching TV than watching flames and singing.
For the most part, the songs were already obsolete at that time, some dating back to the 13th century ("Summer is a-comin' in"). The arrangements are chiefly by Aubrey Kennet and Dudley E. Bayford, all quaint and charming stuff!
That was to change when starting to sing with others and it became especially valuable when teaming up with Dr Oliver Rosteck. The following are included in my repertoire:
