Written by
Knut Kiesewetter, this is a somewhat mournful song of the joys of living on a remote Friesian farm, in winter, when the day is short, when the night is long, when it's stormy and raining, when the tide is coming in and which will probably flood the fields etc. etc. Bernd sang it slow and managed to convey the feeling that despite the inclemencies of nature one could feel well provided that there was enough punch and had the company of good neighbours.
When with
Das Trio it would be sung by Britta Steenken while I accompanied her on my concertina..
