According to the Internet source given below, Lew Brown (Russian-born Louis Brownstein) was an American lyricist for popular songs.
On his own estimation in 1939 he had written or collaborated on about 7,000 songs. Brown was one third of a successful songwriting and music publishing team with Buddy DeSylva and Ray Henderson (De Sylva, Brown & Henderson Inc.) from 1925 until 1931 and also wrote or co-wrote many Broadway shows and Hollywood films.
His most-popular songs Include Button Up Your Overcoat, Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree (1942), Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries (1931), That Old Feeling(1937) and The Birth of the Blues. (1926).
Of ragtime interest is The Ragtime Dream (1914) published by Leo Feist, New York, USA.
