p_caldwella.jpgAccording to the Internet source given below, Anne Marsh Caldwell, also known as Anne Caldwell O'Dea, was an American playwright and lyricist born in Boston, Massachusetts.
She wrote both pop songs and Broadway shows, sometimes working with composer Jerome Kern.
Before assuming the illustrious career described by Wikipedia little is known of her early years before 1904. Gleaned from newspaper cuttings and other brief sources her mother, Marianna, was a musician and pianist Her career began, aged of fourteen, with a juvenile opera company which toured New England, before moving into musical comedy and vaudeville. She formed double-act with Charles Wayne, Wayne & Caldwell, with whom she was married for some years.
She died in Beverly Hills, California.
