All that can presently (February 2025) be gleaned about Joseph Anthony Phillips from sheet music covers and by Internet searching is that he was an American baritone and musical comedy star born in Buffalo, Erie County, New York.
He made at least 168 cylinder and disc recordings between 1910 and 1925 many of which were duets with Helen Clark. Phillips also sang in Europe and the US performing a repertoire of ballads, popular material and operetta.
He died in Buffalo.
