Will ye no' come back again?
Last updated: 28.01.22
The version of "Will ye no' come back again?" that I sing can be found in The New Scottish Songbook. I have known this fine Scottish song but did not really get immersed in it until looking for more Scottish songs. The lyrics are by Lady Nairne (1766-1845) and the tune traditional.
This a simple tune well-suited to the concertina whilst the song is a lamentation on ..Bonnie Charlie's noo awa safely owre the friendly main . Another fine sentimental song indeed, only my imperfect Scottish accent prevents me giving it a wider airing.
