O Susanna (wunderschöne Anna!)
Last updated: 28.01.22
As a folk musician in Germany, it's easy to get mixed up because there is an American folk song called Oh, Susanna but starts off with "I come from Alabama with a banjo on my knee". It is very confusing because both songs are equally well known.
This is one of the songs I culled from Die Seemannskiste Volume 2 at the behest of Ernst Richter who wanted me to sing German sea songs. The melody is fine to play on the concertina but I found it hard to make friends with the lyrics.
