"My Bonnie lies over the ocean" is extremely well known in Germany and as with Rolling Home and The Banks of the Sacramento, I am often asked to sing it as most people can join in. I first heard it as a school song in primary school. I can never make up my mind whether this is a sea song, a Scottish song or even a Northumbrian song.
It was also often sung by Wilfried Drygala when performing with the Idle Fellows.
