Northumbrian Minstrelsy (1882). A much loved and recorded song which can be found in the repertoires of such luminaries as
Shirely Collins,
June Tabor and
The High Level Ranters.
It is a sad, sad but common enough story of a lovelorn maid deserted by her sailor lover.
