Ich wollt, ich wär ein Huhn
Last updated: 02.02.24
Ich wollt, ich wär ein Huhn is a wonderful comic song associated with the The Comedian Harmonists. The words were by Hans Fritz Beckmam and the music by Peter Kreuder. Being a total Comedian Harmonist fan, I was delighted when Britta Steeken selected this piece along with Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus to be sung by Das Trio.
We sang a SSAB arrangement by Erich Unterholzer which can be found in Chor aktuell junior published by Gustav Bosse Verlag. This arrangement does not use all the verses but is intended as a potpourri to flow into Mein kleiner grüner Kaktus. My voice, bass, does not have much to remember - its just "dock, dock, dock, dock, dock, dock" suppose to imitate a hen's cackle.
