Go From My Window as sung by the
Tyneside Maritime Chorus has a tune that is strikingly similar to that given in
Come to my window. In the former, the courted maiden spurns her beau (
The Devil's in the man) whereas in the latter she yearns for him (
I am thine, oh thou knowst I am thine).
Whatever - I love both these songs.
The Tyneside Maritime Chorus version as composed by
Benny Graham is beautifully intricate some lines are sung by "women only" [sic] set against a 3-chord bass counterpoint. Lovely stuff!
