"Hanging Johnny" is a fine shanty that I occasionally sing and is based on the version given by Master Mariner W. B. Whall in his Sea Songs Ships and Shanties. It is a jolly piece about how the singer hung his various relations because he "hanged for his money". Not exactly the stuff for refined tastes!
