Stephen Collins Foster  (1826-1864)
Last updated: 29.01.24
According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Stephen Foster was a prolific American composer mainly of songs to his own words. He was self-taught and died poor and an alcoholic.
Many of my early struggles with the piano started with Stephen Foster compositions such as Jeanie with the light brown hair and Beautiful Dreamer.
