Samuel Scheidt (1587-1654)

According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Samuel Scheidt was a German organist and composer especially of organ works (including hymn-tune harmonisations); church music, dance music, etc. His "Tabulatura nova" (1624) advocated staff notation for organ , in place of tablature. He has the Görlitzer Tabulatorbuch (1650) in Weihnachtliche Musik Alter Meister Für Blockflötenquartett.
