p_bakerb.jpgAccording to the Internet source given below, Belle Baker was an American singer of both ragtime and torch songs also a stage and film actress born in New York.
She started performing at the Lower East Side's Cannon Street Music Hall at aged just 11. Four years later she debuted in vaudeville in Scranton, Pennsylvania and when 17 years old she topped-of-the-bill in New York.
She hosted her own radio show during the 1930s Eddie Cantor calling her "Dinah Shore, Patti Page, Peggy Lee, Judy Garland all rolled into one ".
As an actress, she starred on Broadway and had a brief film career making her film debut by starring in the Song of Love (1929). A few other films followed the last in 1944.
She died in Los Angeles, California.
