Joplin respectfully dedicated The Rosebud March to "my friend Tom Turpin". Thomas Million Turpin, also a ragtime composer, made a considerable contribution to the genre by opening the Rosebud Café in 1900 which became the rendezvous for all notable ragtime players in St Louis This so-called march is extremely gay and cheerful making excellent dance music.
