As mentioned above Policy King is Charles B. Brown's best known composition which remained popular even until 1919 when it was recorded by Fred van Eps, the famous banjo player. Its form is AABBACCC with a 4-bar introduction and a 12-bar interlude before the final C strain. As an adaptation for recorder it is a great ensemble piece. The melodies are shared by the treble and the first and second tenors whilst everyone has plenty to say in the interlude.

Policy King was published by Will Rossiter, Chicago, Illinois, USA.
A tempo of 90 crotchets/min. is suggested.
