According to the Internet source given below, Robert Hampton was an American pianist and composer of rags. He was an accomplished performer and influenced many ragtime pianists amongst whom were Artie Matthews, Charles Thompson, Charles Hubbard and Ferdinand Morton. His three published pieces are given in the list but he was reported to have composed at least some forty pieces.
