As Molly Callaghan, a single mother of three children, she initially taught music in Candelo beforeopening a music studio in Sydney. She performed there under the stage name ''Marie Narelle''and billed as ''The Australian Queen of Irish Song.''.
She gave concerts of Irish and Scottish ballads, arias, and other popular works. On an invitation to perform in Ireland 1902 she took the opportunity to study Gaelic. She toured widely in Australia, New Zealand, USA and England.
Narelle was based in New York City after 1910 and in England after 1934.
She died in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.
