Wenrich dedicated Ashy Africa to his friend Mame Brush. It is a straightforward, lively rag with syncopation a-plenty. It has a 4-bar introduction followed by a repeated 16-bar first section. The second 32-bar section is not repeated and is followed by a repeat of first section acting as a lead-in to the concluding trio. All voices have their hands full in this happy recorder adaptation.
Ashy Africa was published by Frank K. Root and Co., Chicago, Illinois, USA.
