Length: approx. 3¼ mins.
Spring-Time Rag is a fine rag in AABBACC form with a 4-bar introduction and an 8-bar interlude between the C-strains. The A- and B-strains fairly bubble along abounding in syncopation and gay triplets. The first C-strain is a beautiful contrast which gradually increases in excitement through the much stressed interlude leading to a grand finale raised by an octave in the final C-section. A great ensemble piece!.
The cover of the original sheet music shows a centrepiece of a demure country lass with a pinafore full of blooms in a dancing pose. An improbable toad or disguised prince gazes on from the bottom right hand corner - what the creature's role here is beyond the editor.
Spring-Time Rag was published by Stark Music Co, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
A tempo of 76 crotchets/min. is suggested.
