Length: approx. 3 ½ mins. Sounds best if 1st Tenor and Bass are doubled.
Haunting Rag is generally considered to be the most original of Lenzberg's rags. Performing this piece "not too fast", as the composer prescribes, certainly brings out its "haunting" qualities (pun intended) whilst it can also be safely taken at a faster pace which seems to work just as well, at least for the editor!
The treble voice has plenty of high F's and G's to keep the player on his or her toes whilst the tenors will have fun playing against each other in the A strain. All-in-all a fun piece for performers and audiences alike.
Haunting Rag was published by M. Witmark and Sons, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, USA.
A tempo of 74 crotchets/min. 74 is suggested.
