These Fairy Kisses waltzes have an elegance, charm and simplicity strongly contrasting to Johnson's rags and other compositions that beg inclusion in any programme of Johnson's works. Johnson dedicated Fairy Kisses to a certain Mr and Mrs Barry Fulton. This recorder adaptation calls for a 3rd tenor of infinite patience who for the greater part has to wait for the second part of the second waltz before being asked to play a few D's and E's and the odd C. The Finale is quite amusing in that there is a suggestion that the waltzes should repeated in perpetuum. Johson later wrote a companion to this piece, namely Wedding of the Fairies (1909).
Fairy Kisses was published by Harold Rossiter Music Co., Chicago, Illinois, USA.
A tempo of 150 crotchets/min. is suggested.
