Length: approx. 3 mins.
Porcupine Rag is not especially prickly as the title might suggest. It is a fairly straightforward undemanding rag composition in an ABACD form. It has a dream part for the 1st tenor who has the melody from the first bar to the last without a break. The 2nd tenor, which could be doubled for a few bars, has to perform very accurately in fitting in with the first voice. In all, a nice piece of work which melds very well in this recorder adaptation with regard to the tenor and bass recorder timbres.
Porcupine Rag was published by M. Witmark and Sons, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, USA.
A tempo of 100 crotchets/min. is suggested.
