Length: approx. 2½ mins. Sounds best if the 1st tenor is doubled.
Hoffman respectfully dedicated
I'm Alabama Bound to a certain M.T.Scarlatta. This Rag two step was very popular and was used by many composers including the his townie the famous
Ferdinand Morton who virtually took it over under the title
I'm Alabamy Bound. It has a rondo form of ABACCA with a 4-bar introduction. The rondo theme is highly contagious, almost maddening. The editor romanticises that this is the composer's homage to his place of birth. The cover of the original sheet music shows a nattily dressed itinerant replete with cane and carpet-covered suitcase clearly striding forward on his way home.
I'm Alabama Bound was published by
Jerome H. Remick & Co., New York & Detroit, USA.
A tempo of 78 crotchets/min. is suggested.
