Louise V. Gustin dedicated these Janice Meredith Waltzes to one Miss Mary Mannering, the charming lady who is shown on the front cover of the original sheet music which she also autographed. The suite comprises 3 waltzes with an 8-bar introduction and a coda in which strains from the 1st waltz are repeated. It is a lengthy piece requiring plenty of puff from the performers. The melody voices however have extended periods of bar-counting and the melodies themselves are shared between the treble and 1st tenor. Not so for the rhythm section, their lot is a demanding one being wholly occupied from start to finish. The waltzes themselves delight in their charm and simplicity and pleasantly contrast both in mood and dynamics.
Janice Meredith Waltzes was published by Whitney-Warner Publishing Co., Detroit, Michigan, USA.
A tempo of 150 crotchets/min. is suggested.
