Quoting from the Arcadian Press notes:
"The Richmond Rag" (1909) was the first of May Aufderheide's compositions to be published by her father's new company. The title honoured Richmond, Indiana where she had moved to shortly after her marriage and followed by her highly successful Dusty Rag (1908). The form of "The Richmond Rag" is: Introduction A A B C C B. Although the B section appears only once, it is distinctly syncopated. Almost percussive. To further emphasise this section, B is repeated after C.
