Julia Whybrow studied recorder at the "Hochschule für Musik" in Frankfurt am Main with Michael Schneider and at the Conservatory, Amsterdam with Walter van Hauwe. In 1994 she won the 2nd prize in the international Gaudeamus at Pays-Bas, France and in 1995 the 1st prize in the International Recorder Competition at Calw, Germany.
