The Barn Yard Shuffle is another Tyers cheerful and pleasing cakewalk very much in the character of Aunt Mandy's Wedding which was published in the same year. It has the same AABBACCC form with a 4-bar introduction and a 16-bar interlude before the final C-strain whereby here, the AB- and C-strains are written in the major keys of F and Bb respectively. Here too, the stirring C-strains contrast strongly with the lyrical A- and B-strains. In this adaptation for recorder sextet, the melodies are shared by the treble and 1st tenor whilst the rhythm section has a very strong supporting role. Those that enjoyed Aunt Mandy's Wedding will surely delight in this companion composition.
The Barn Yard Shuffle was published by Jos. W. Stern & Co., New York, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
