Length: approx. 3 mins. Sounds best if the 1st tenor and bass are doubled.
Harem Scarem Rag is a pleasant, flowing rag in AABBCCB form with a 4-bar introduction in G-major. This adaptation for recorder is particularly interesting because the melodies are shared between the treble and 1st tenor. The treble voice has some bar counting which could possibly be used to help out the bass in the C-strain for example. The cover of the original sheet music suggests a Halloween theme with a smiling witch flying side-saddle on and reining a monstrous goose set against a huge full moon haloed with an escort of 7 devils/imps/demons in pursuit
Harem Scarem Rag was published by Geo. L. Trombley Pub. Co., Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
