Length: approx. 2¼ mins. Sounds best if the 1st tenor is doubled.
Mardi Gras Rag is a straightforward rag in ABACC form with a 4-bar introduction. This transcription for recorder quintet is a tenor's delight, the 1st tenor having the action from start to finish. The introduction, A- and B-strains form just one almost unbroken stream of syncopated sixteenths. Respite is given in the more stately C-strain with its tied minim chords set against walking bass patterns. Truly a tenor's delight!
Mardi Gras Rag was published by Geo. W. Meyer Music Co., New York, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
