Back To Life was Hunter's final work, the title no doubt reflecting the relinquishment of his hitherto debauched and dissolute life and his impending nuptials tragically only to be enjoyed for such a brief period. The piece itself is most positively optimistic with some very weird and wonderful chords, especially in the A-section, requiring meticulous tonguing and breath/tone control in preventing unwanted "out-of-tune" effects. Not a piece for the timid and faint-hearted, very demanding but extremely rewarding.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
Back To Life was published by Chas. K. Harris, New York, USA.
There are also treble solo and trio versions of this item.
