Everybody Twostep is a fine, ragged rag with the word "twostep" probably used here as a verb. Its form is AABBACC with a 4-bar introduction whereby the AB- and C-strains are written in the major keys of C and F respectively. In 1912 the rag was rewritten and published as a song which enjoyed some popularity. In this adaptation for recorder sextet, the treble will especially enjoy having the melodies from start to finish. The cover of the original sheet music shows a seated Negro clown playing a banjo and no doubt imperatively enjoining his audience to do the two step.
Everybody Twostep was published by
Jerome H. Remick & Co., New York & Detroit, USA.
A tempo of 80 crotchets/min. is suggested.
There is also a
treble solo version of this item.
