Nicolas Gombert  (1500-1556)

According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Nicolas Gombert was a Flemish (Netherlandish) composer in service to the (Holy roman) Emperor Charles V, with whom he travelled widely; he is thought to have been a pupil of Josquin des Préz. Wrote more than 200 chansons, also Masses, motets, etc.
