Charles Coleman is briefly mentioned in The New Penguin Dictionary of Music as one of five composers with Henry Lawes, Henry Cooke (1616-1672), Matthew Locke and George Hudson who composed for the first English opera, Sir William Davenant's "The Siege of Rhodes".
