Henry Lawes  (1596-1662)

According to The New Penguin Dictionary of Music, Henry Lawes was an English composer in service at court; selebrated in a sonnet by Milton, having set Milton's "Comus". Wrote coronation anthem for Charles II, songs (some to poems by Herrick), church music; collaborated in the music to "The Siege of Rhodes", the first English opera, 1656. Brother to William Lawes.
