This is an excellent songbook for the student of Geordie folk music and is subdivided into 4 collections as follows:

The Bishopric Garland, or Durham Minstrel, which first appeared in 1784 an enlarged in 1792 (18 songs including Elsie Marley)
The Yorkshire Garland, published in 1788 (6 songs)
The Northumberland Garland, dated 1793 (16 songs including The Collier's Rant)
The North Country Chorister, issued in 1792 (6 songs) including Tommy Linn [Brian O'Lynn]
