p_harrimanj.jpgAll that can presently (October 2023) be gleaned about Josephine Harriman from sheet music covers and by Internet searching is that she was an American dancer who has been featured on 3 works published in 1915. She was well-known enought to have inspired two titled dances in a 1915 craze. She appeared in a number of Broadway productions between 1908 and 1915.
Her portrait on the left is taken from Valse Ellis (1915) by Abe Olman, and published by Coupon Music Co., , USA.
Surfers are welcome to contribute any further information about this performer.
On a personal note, here my light entertainment and recorder ragtime interests overlap. Quite a while ago I adapted Harriman Cake Walk (1915) and The Harriman Fox Tango (1915) for recorder ensembles.
