p_bsm.jpgAccording to the Internet source given below, Buffy Sainte-Marie was born on the Piapot Plains Cree First Nation Reserve in the Qu'Appelle Valley, Saskatchewan, Canada. She Canadian-American singer-songwriter, musician, composer, visual artist, educator, pacifist, and social activist focusing on issues of indigenous peoples of the Americas.
In the in the 1980s she was blacklisted for some of her protest songs specifically I'm Gonna Be a Country Girl Again. Of this she famously said, "I was put out of business in the United States".
