According to the Internet source given below, Sophie Larivière is a graduate of McGill University and the University of Montreal where she obtained a Masters degree in ancient music interpretation. She has participated in master classes on several occasions in Europe and the United States where she was able to perfect her playing with flautists of international renown. Ms. Larivière has played with the Ensemble Caprice ensemble since 1997 and is the artistic co-director. She has been on several tours with them and has participated in important recorder music events, including the International Recorder Symposium in Stuttgart, the Recorder Series in Germany in Schwelm, and the Recorder Festival of Stockstadt in Germany. She has also been the guest performer with several ancient music ensembles. She gives concerts with Les Violons du Roy (Quebec), Rebel Ensemble (New York), The Arion Ensemble (Montreal), The Baroque Orchestra of Montreal, and Les Idées Heureuses (Montreal). With the latter ensemble she toured with Canada's Jeunesses Musicales, performing concerts in Quebec, New Brunswick, and Ontario. She is the second flautist in the Rebel Baroque Orchestra. Her performances have been broadcast on radio in Canada as well as Germany. She has recorded with the following ensembles: The Caprice Ensemble on the Antes Edition label, with The Claude Gervaise Ensemble on The Interdisc label and with The Capriole Ensemble on the SNE label. Besides her regular appearances in concert, Ms. Larivière teaches at the Cigep St Laurent in Montreal, the CAMMAC music camp, the San Francisco Early Music Society as well as in the Stuttgart region of Germany. She is also the musical advisor for the Recorder Society of Montreal.
