Length: approx. 3¾ mins. Sounds best if the tenor is doubled.
Dixie Darlings is a gentle, undemanding, easy-going jog-along two step. It would be nice to know who the Dixie Darling displayed on the cover of the original sheet music is but Wenrich did not write a dedication to this piece and the question remains unanswered, lost in the ninety-odd year gap since when it was first published. The composition is practically "classic" ragtime. After a 4-bar introduction the work starts with two 16-bar repeated sections. This is then followed by a 16-bar section before the concluding trio which comprises a 4-bar section and two repeated 16-bar sections.
Dixie Darlings was published by McKinley Music Co., Chicago & New York, USA.
