I was very pleased to find this book listed with Amazon.com. Having studied the trumpet at Ithaca College with Professor Mueller this book was a natural link to the study and teaching of brass instruments for me. Photographs of Mr. Phillips, Mr. Davidson, and other prominent orchestral musicians demonstrating embouchure and posture are valuable to teachers who wish to help young people learn their instruments. The short history of brass instruments, the fingering/slide charts in this book are clear and accurate. The arrangements of hymns and Mueller's own composition at the end of the book are alone worth the cost of purchase of this reference guide.
This book is representative of the life of the late Herbert C. Mueller, in that it is direct, without fluff, and practical.
