p_batesb.jpgAccording to the Internet source given below, Blanche Bates was an American actress born in Portland, Oregon.
As an infant, she toured Australia with her actor parents before they returned to live in San Francisco.She débuted in San Francisco in a benefit performance of Brander Matthews's This Picture and That.She was a member of the Daly company and after early successes was devoted to David Belasco productions in The Darling of the Gods (1902), The Girl of the Golden West (1905), Nobody's Widow (1910) by Avery Hopwood, and after World War I in The Famous Mrs. Fair (1919).
In 1926, she retired from the stage to San Francisco, California where she died.
