Personal remarks:
I had the good fortune to experience Louis Armstrong live at Portsmouth Guildhall in May 1962. The 21-year old youth that I was, was a little disappointed as he rarely played his trumpet but mostly sung in that gravelly voice of his. His stage presence and personality was, however, terrific. Memorable were his Blueberry Hill and Georgia on my Mind. Some 40 years later of I enjoyed the envy of Harmonic Brass Munich when telling them of this encounter.
